How to Cite

Mr. Steel

·        All quotes and paraphrases should be correctly documented with page numbers. Page numbers go inside the parenthesis. You do not need to use "pg." or "p." inside the parenthesis.

Example:

Page 65 of the original text:

Jimmy loved to run over small animals with his truck. He roared with sadistic laughter when they went, "Squeal!" Jimmy was a very sick young man.

Direct quote:

"Jimmy loved to run over small animals with his truck. He roared with sadistic laughter when they went, 'Squeal!' Jimmy was a very sick young man" (65).

Paraphrase:

Jimmy's pathological behaviour is demonstrated most vividly by his sick delight in killing small animals on the road (65).

·        If you are citing more than one source, you need to include an author within the parenthesis.

Example:

Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic method suggests that Jimmy's joy is derived from his deep-seated fascination with his mother (Freud 89), whereas Carl Jung would interpret Jimmy's neurosis in terms of subconscious archetypes (Jung 128).

Your Assignment:
